Get Animated!

Ex-Disney animator wants to draw dogs!! Pretty cool, heh? We would love to be animated. Sometime mom thinks we already are...

Anyway, yesterday mom was sitting in the vets office reading Dog Fancy magazine or something of the sort when she read about a site called, Draw The Dog.

Inspire Jim George to include you on his website. I know you can!! All my blogging friends have such interesting stories to tell I'm sure we can keep this guy drawing for years.

So go sniff around and let us know if they include you. We wouldn't want to miss it!!

Table Top Dancing

Do I look like a b-a-d girl?

No! I didn't think so. I have a secret though. A deep secret. My name is Haley and I am a table top dancer. Do I do it for tips? No

I do it for chips!

Mom & dad left us alone with a container of pringles on the kitchen table. I could smell them! When on my tippy toes I could see the can sitting there, teasing me... So I had Bailey be the lookout while I worked at pulling the chair out from under the table. Biting the leg I would tug, tug,...oh not enough. I actually worked up a sweat. Finally! I got the chair out enough for me to leap from the chair onto the table. It's an old metal top table and my nails make a ding, ding noise across it a I try to pop the lid off the pringles can..

"They're Coming!!!", yells Bailey from the window.

Oh shoot. This not good. Not good at all. I must try to take the can of chips and hide them for later but shoot..oh, oh this table is so slick...... Then it happened. As mom & dad were about to enter the house I bolted. I lost my cool, I know. I leaped from the table onto the floor pushing the table and chips onto the ground with a loud CRASH. As I scampered off I hear dad, "WTH?"

Enters mom & dad..but nobody greets them...nobody.

Heavy wooden table lays on the floor sideways with a broken leg and chips everywhere.

Me? I'm curled up sleeping in the living room where I have been the whole time. damn cats

I'm obsessed with shoes

I'm obsessed with shoes!!

Not Gucci or Christian Dior but my daddy's stinky sneakers.

Is it spring yet?

It's been since September?! Wow! Ok, well let's see. Mom's always working. It's been so cold and icy that we haven't walked much. Since mom is always working its been great because she feels real bad about neglecting us so we make out with the treats. Bailey has gained 5 lbs though...

So a lot has happened. Last nice day we had a visit from a neighbor beagle who was just adopted from the pound. Yippee, another beagle on the block. She was sweet little thing but she gave us all kennel cough. Yep, for a few weeks we sounded like chain smokers. We were put on meds and Mom fed us honey too. yummy

Sad note, our kitty kitty brother Ed passed away. He was the cat that Bailey liked to nap with.....no, no she didn't roll over on him. He had cancer and was very ill for the last couple months. I would say that we'll miss him terribly but our attention spans are pretty small. As soon as he walks through that door we'll remember that he's been missing.

Did I mention that mom is always working?

No, we won't go!

Ever have one of those days that you really don't want to go indoors? Mom is calling and calling, but we can't be found. {{snicker}} We know, see that she will try to lure us in and our daily romp will be over. Nooooooo! So we hide. We hide and wait for her to give up. We are not ignoring her. We hear her calling over and over, but darn if we'll be lured into the house...even for a cookie. Did she say cookie? The good chicken strip or one of those cruddy biscuits? She's peeked our interest. Ok, that's ok. We still have control.

Oh, Oh she's squeaking toys and hands are full of cookies. " Girls, Girls" she pleads,"Come inside. I've got cookies!!" We wait. We know there are better things to come. Silence.

Has she forgotten us? Given up that we will ever be indoor dogs again and now we are free to do whatever we please? Roll in gruesome goo and terrorize furry animals all night long? Have we won? Mom can no longer dictate! We can come and go when we please! I am beagle, hear me yelp! Gosh, those looked like the good treats though. I mean, we can always put mom in her place tomorrow. You know, real chicken strips wrapped around a rawhide. Yeah, it's getting kind of chilly out here anyway....

Full Moon

Behind the passing shadow
Glows that big illumination of light
Slowly it starts to fade
Until it is completely out of sight

Mom!! Bailey has her big butt in front of the tv again!

Hi Everyone,

It's me Hailey. I know it's been f-o-r-ever. Although we've been silent (well on the blog anyway) we've actually been having one heck of a summer. Like today I spent the majority of my morning tracking down a little black cricket. I know, I know. Busy! Then I have ground squirrels to chase, neighbors to annoy and let's not forget about all the cat butts that must be sniffed. I'm a busy girl with a full schedule. Blogging just hasn't been an option lately but I miss reading about all my furry blogosphere friends, so I'm penciling ya in right after redigging a hole in the yard, and before a quick butt scoot across the carpet.

me hard at work

We will try to be on more!

P.S - Enjoy the full moon tonight. {{howl}} Full moons have a way of bring out the wild animal in all of us. We'll be busy keeping mom from Ebay where she would probably be bidding wildly on a Adam Lambert troll doll. down girl down girl

Spring blooms & doom

We tried, we really tried. Honestly our agenda was to help mom in the garden but things happened. Things beyond our control. really

They don't make wheelbarrows like they use to.

Flowers are blooming like mad and they sure do look pretty. Isn't this pretty? Strange thing about mom's flowers. They self combust and spew petals all over the place. It's true. It happened to all the red tulips in our pen.

When we roamed the rest of the garden we saw plants emerging from the earth so we promptly stepped on them. Get back in there! We take our jobs seriously.

We spent the rest of the day digging holes for mom, none of which seemed to satisfy her, so we dug more.

Then there was the cut ornamental grasses laying in neat bundles that we knew should be shredded & flung across the lawn. It was a tedious job but someone had to do it.

Gardening is fun. :)

Good News & Good Roll

No stitches, no cancer and no cone! The Vet told us that everything looked fine so I am now coneless and boy did I have a good roll.

We're a bit in the dark ages. Perhaps we'll get a video camera someday. lol

The Dreaded Cone

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging at all. I've been a little under the weather lately and haven't been up to posting. Mom has a cone on me or an Elizabethan collar, as a friend likes to call it.
Whatever your name for it, it's degrading & humiliating. Mom tries to snuggle with me but then makes cracks about her little lamp shade head. :(

So what happened? Well, a few weeks ago I started limping and while inspecting my paw mom found an extra toe! It was big & pink, swollen from our recent long walks. I don't know where it came from but boy was it uncomfortable to walk on. The vet said it was a tumor and while inspecting my foot they found another one. The next day was a horrible one. I should have known something was wrong. Mom left me at the veterinarian clinic!! I was so scared but I was a good girl. The two tumors were removed, my foot was bandaged and then the dreaded cone was placed around my neck. There should be a law against cones on beagles. We like to sniff the ground and how are we suppose to do that with a cone on?!?

Mom kept me pretty medicated so I'm kind of fuzzy to what happened for a few days. I slept a lot and I remember Bailey standing over me very disappointed that I wouldn't play with her. Then the pain wasn't so bad and I got antsy. I hated the cone! I made every attempt to bash & chew it apart. Mom brought out the duct tape but it was no match for me. They don't call me Haley Hell Fire for nothing. I managed to break the darn thing beyond repair. Enough of the cone...

Soon I could take my sock off and Oooo there was my stitched up paw. I became engrossed by it and couldn't stop washing but fearing they would buy another cone I have left my stitches be. So here I am doing my time until the stitches can be removed but it hasn't been all boring. To my moms horror, I caught a squirrel yesterday and I most certainly would not drop it. Oh no no that's been a dream and I was so proud. Who cares if it was a little handicapped, blind squirrel?! It still took a lot of skill and I was so happy until it curled around my muzzle & bit into me. Ouch! Those things have teeth! None of my squeaker toys have teeth!! After a wild chase involving mom, max and ed the cat, the squirrel got away. I have several new wounds on my face but have pretty much forgotten my sore leg. :)

We're Alive

Oh my, my, sorry about the blogging absence. Life has really been keeping us busy. Every since the new year Mom's been on health kick of eating really well & cooking all the meals. She's trying to lose weight & be healthier. Turns out its not so bad for us because we are her little helpers. We love to try to trip her in the kitchen so that she might drop a yummy morsel. Unfortunately, more carrots get dropped than anything. Why couldn't red meat be on her menu?

Then when we aren't cooking Mom's working or working out on those stupid machines. When it was really icey out she even decided to put us on the treadmill!!

So we just wanted everyone to know we're ok but life is a bit crazy now.

Meanwhile look what we found on ebay. Isn't that silly? A Beagle cookie jar...

Snowball Catch & Buddy Belts

Waiting for the pitch....

I got it!  Oh my gosh, I gotta run if I want to keep it.

Run, run, run!  Oh no Bailey has that crazy look in her eye!!

Bailey!!!! Get your own freaking snowball!

This Snowball game has been brought to you by Buddy Belts..well, not really but I thought I would take the opportunity to show off my new pink Buddy Belt.  It says BB..so of course we tell everyone it stands for Beagle Bitches.  Bailey's Buddy Belt hasn't come yet, but when it does we should look like two high fashion bitches.

Also related good news:  We took a walk today!!  A real one and not going up and down dog friendly isles.  We walked to our neighborhood market and back.  Wonderful!!

Balmy 30 Degrees

{{Sigh}}  Seems like a lifetime ago that I was supervising a doggy outing.  Gosh I miss that green grass, warm sun and lots of fresh smells.  After spending the last week in frigid temps today's 30 degrees feels warm.

Back to reality - Our pen is still covered with snow but with temps not in the negative, we were able to get out and romp a bit.  Fun, fun!

Afterwards I dried off in a sunny window.  What the heck is that noise?  Horrendous air flow disruption.  Sounds like a fur ball stuck in the furnace.

Oh, nope it's just Bailey.

Hope everyone is warm!

The Great Sneezeathon

Mom's been sick so we've been busy taking care of her. We've heard her sneeze so many times that for awhile we thought kleenex were going to be a permanent part of her face.

<~~ My best, I have no idea who did this face.

Kleenex, what a fascinating creation. Very soft and shreds extremely well. Mom left the box of kleenex unattended so we decided to have some fun. I would have blamed it on the cat but I got caught with my head in the box. Honestly, I was trying to put the tissues back.

Now that mom is feeling better we have a lot of blogging to do and reading to catch up on. We especially need to thank Dughallmor Beagles for sharing awards with us.

How cool is that? We don't really know the rules of these awards but we would like to share them with another favorite dog blog.

Darling Dinky Dogs - these little yappers are very close to our hearts & they also live rather close to us. Well actually, we chat across the street almost daily, so we would like to share our awards with our dear friends from the "hood".

Thank you so much Dughallmor Beagles!! We are so glad to have met such a gorgeous family of Beagles. Many sniffs & kisses!

Cold, Cold Day

Oh, it's so cold today. I've spent much of it staring out the window hoping something interesting will happen. Mom says it's too cold to take our long walk but we may go for a short one just to get out of the house. Lots of snow on the ground and it's very icey but we still enjoy sniffing around.

Hey, I think I see that new neighbor cat.

Bailey has been on the couch catching up on her beauty sleep. She doesn't seem upset at all about the bad weather. I think she would be perfectly happy hibernating until spring.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a little more exciting.

Frozen Bunny Poops

It's that time of year again when the white fluff covers the lawn & bunnies poop in mom's garden.  We love searching for frozen bunny delights.   They are 100% organic and meat-free which you would think would make our vegetarian mom happy but she still makes faces.

Speaking of making faces, look at this Bailey snap shot.  Poor quality image but it shows two things.  Bailey not only has a wild hair up her butt but she also has that wild, deranged look in her eye.

Total Madness!!

LuLu The Contortionist

The other day we had so much fun. Our pen is a layer of fences, much like Fort Knox, with heavy ties at the base so when we feel like digging we won't be able to squirt out to the other side. Mom took great pride in all the elaborate details making sure that we would be safe so imagine her surprise when she looked outside to see not two Beagles, but three!

We would like to introduce to you LuLu The Contortionist.

LuLu lives a few houses down and often visits us when she escapes the clutches of her own fenced area. Normally we share a few doggy yelps & kisses through the fence but on this day she decided to test Moms fence. To our amazement she was able to step onto a piece of pottery, which made her slightly higher than the first layer of fencing and then she was able to squeeze her skinny body through the slats of the wooden fence. It wasn't easy but there she was wiggling with us as we all had a good laugh about Moms "perfect" fence.

We chased each other around the yard, crashing in piles of leaves & we showed LuLu our favorite roll spots. Oh it was so fun but when Dad came home he wasn't to thrilled to be greeted by an additional dog. Our little friend was given a dog treat and sent home. However the next day LuLu came calling again & we were back to being the gleeful pack of Beagles.

Happy Halloween!

The crunch of fallen leaves
under our eight paws

Bare trees silhouette the sky
the looming crow caws

Tiny ghouls & witches scamper
we watch them with glee

Plenty of goody filled bags
just waiting for Bailey & Me

We hunker behind the bushes
waiting for our prey

Unexpecting costumed tikes
lug their bounty for the day

We round the corner with wagging tails
and a boisterous Beagle Halloween Howl

Bags are dropped, and from tiny britches
comes a smell that is foul

Snatch the candy and off we go...

I said, off we go....

Bailey, quit giving that little ghoul kissies.

Oh heavens, we can't help it
we're Beagles you see

Even with naughty intentions
the love makes it tough to flee

Happy Halloween Everyone!

May you be blessed with a wonderfully spooky Halloween, tasty goodies, and many kissies.

wags and wiggles,
the two witches

Contemplating Halloween Costumes

Well, it's that time of year we love.  During the last couple days we've been keeping busy by chasing leaves among the fall shadows and occasionally helping mom with the garden chores.  It's been fun helping her dig holes, even where she didn't need any.  She says I have a more powerful dig than any helper she's had, but she was a little disgusted with me when she caught me sucking on a grub.  Shouldn't knock it till you've tried it!

So what's so great about this time of year other than the weather?  Halloween of course!  We love to watch all the little humans dress up in funny costumes but best of all, they carry treat bags.  Going house to house to beg for treats.  What a great concept.  So this year Bailey & I have decided to dress up as well.  We really want to get in on this treat thing.

Bailey is going as BeyoncĂ© Knowles.  No shocker there.  Bailey has that extra jiggle in her wiggle.  I was debating on Sarah Palin, one of the Munsters or a rapid Snoopy.  Hmm, the point was to get treats not scare anyone so instead I decided to go with cute.  What is more harmless & cute than a groundhog?

A beagle in a groundhog suit.

ta da

How do I look?  Oh, darn the eyeholes aren't lining up correctly.  I'll have to get mom on that.  Well, what to do you think?  Do you find yourself wanting to throw treats at me?

Uh, Oh ...Do you think this costume makes my butt look big?

The Three B's

Mom says Baking, Butter & Beagles don't mix, unless you eat Beagles and that is just sick!

Mom forgot that we are a very agile breed that take advantage of unsupervised moments.  She left a stick of butter out on the table for baking & boy did it smell good!  You know what I'm saying?!? Pure butter, not that healthy veggie oil junk.  Within a couple seconds time, just enough for her to run the trash out, we had it snagged it from the middle of the table, unwrapped the stick and gnawed half of it.  Hmm, tasty but most of it slid across the floor leaving a slick goo.

Silly mom!  Does she not remember we have incredible tongues that stretch out 12 feet? tee hee hee I still remember the day we surprised her by jumping onto a kitchen chair, leaping to the kitchen table & then onto the counter.  We are like little billy goats but much cuter!  We share the same infatuation with paper too, although I haven't eaten any in awhile.  OOps Bailey just reminded me about the cupcake liner incident.

So Many Squirrels & So Little Leash

Today was beautiful so we spent the day outside helping mom in her garden. While she was pulling weeds and cleaning up brush, we were dismantling her brush piles and flattening plants.  We take the job very seriously.

Sometimes too seriously.  Bailey got upset with me when I took off with her dirt clod & decided I needed my ear pulled.  Mom thought it was time for a sniff (walk) before we killed each other.  Sisters are like that sometimes.

So on our sniff we have to go past this huge yard with a gazillion oak trees.  We call it Squirrel Acres because on every square foot of the property there are like 30 squirrels crawling all over each other.  I kid you not!  They are every where.  I go on point..there, over there and there.  Ooo, look at that one!  Yet my leash doesn't reach so I do a little whine & sit.  Someday I hope to have my very own a Squirrel Acres so that l can make sure that all the squirrels stay up in the trees.
