Peanut Warning

A couple peanuts aren't bad for a dog but apparently a pound of them can be. When mom was out mowing the grass I got bored and decided to pull a new bag of raw peanuts down from the counter. By the time mom came inside for a drink the bag was empty except for a couple. The vet said that many peanuts were too much fat for a dog and could cause pancreatic issues. I dunno, I don't understand it but the vet tried to induce vomiting. Not a fun thing. I don't care for her anymore.

Let me tell you..I was not about to give those peanuts up! It took me all morning to crack the shells open and pick the peanuts out. After all the mess and trouble all I gave the vet was a good burp. I'm feeling fine but mom now keeps the squirrel's peanuts in a high cabinet. Nuts!

Besides my peanut pigout, we're doing well but very busy chasing bunnies out of mom's garden. Here I am taking bunny duty very seriously.

Flower Butt Sniffer

I'm a tracker. I can tell where you've been, what you've eaten and what deep dark secrets you hide inside. Sure I might stick my nose in "innappropiate" places but I'm a dog..that's what I do. So it should be no surprise that I sniff flowers from the rear.

Cake Dreams

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray to hear the oven beep;

Should I snore and not awake,

I pray Haley doesn't devour the entire cake.

Peanut Butter Cake

1 cup white or whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F

Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into cupcake pan. 25 minutes.

Buddy Our Guest

Meet Buddy

He comes over to our house to sniff, play and......

OMG!!

We still love him.

Happy Earth Day!

Hi, Bailey here. :) To celebrate Earth Day and all its glory we've decided to do our part.

1. We will patch our urine spotted lawn.
2. We promise not to chew anymore of Mom's young trees that she has planted.
3. And the big Earth Day promise from the Beagle Bitches is: today will be a day without flatulence.

Oh yes, it's true. I've heard that Beagle flatulence produces more greenhouse gasses than all cars combined. So on this Earth Day we will fight global warming by staying clear of Mom's black bean & sweet potato lunch. What are you saying Haley? Cows? No, I'm pretty sure it was Beagles.

Oh Haley

At least I, Bailey Mae, will be standing by my Earth Day promise. Happy Earth Day!!

Dirty Dirty Day

It sure is great to feel the warmth of the sun on my ears. I laid around all morning in mom's raised bed watching birds eat grass seed. I might have dozed off occasionally but I always kept one eye open for any squirrels that may try to trespass. Not one of the little buggers tried anything. {{sigh}} roll over

It was a nice lazy morning until she came...

LuLu's in da' pen!
Neighbor dog, LuLu decides to shoot her skinny self through our fence and the next I know I'm involved in a high speed chase. Yipping wildly we cruise around the garden beds and through the garden paths. Who are we pursuing? Nobody seems to know, but for over an hour we do laps through the cold mud.

It was rough, wild and so dirty!! We were like those hounds we can only read about. It was exhilarating.

I got a little muddy. {{giggle}}

Haley was so taken in by the moment I caught her drinking out of a {{bluhck}} mud puddle.

We can't wait for spring so we can spend more time outdoors.

Mom's First Alpine Strawberry

Hi Bailey, Here! It's a beautiful fall day today and I've so enjoyed soaking up those rays of sunshine.  Yesterday was a bit exhausting as we spent 50 minutes waiting to get shots at the veterinarians.  They offered us healthy little dog treats which we promptly spit on the floor & then threw mom a look.  Once we got in to see the vet, I was told I need to lose 5 lbs.  5lbs!!  I guess they have no appreciation for robust beagles.  I suppose they want me to look like Lou Lou the scrawny little beagle next door.  Duh, she has worms...you know she does.

Speaking of my diet.  All summer my mom has been looking forward to harvesting little alpine strawberries from her plants, but there hasn't been any.  giggle I sniff them out like a oinker sniffing out truffles.  The sweet little berries are a perfect little snack while tracking squirrel smells in the garden.

Hmm, Hmm Good.

I'm not cruel though.  I left one for mom.   <~~ fall bounty

Kitty Kitties

When we walk there is a lot of sniffing going on, but we've been pretty good at keeping a good pace so Mom feels like we are getting somewhat of a workout. Unless there is a loose one we can pretty much ignore other dogs, but there are three things that really get are attention. We have to stand on point anytime there is a bunny, squirrel (we love watching squirrels. NUTS) and kitty kitties.

Mom doesn't understand why we are so fascinated by outdoor kitty kitties. See, we have a couple at home, but they are indoors except for venturing out on the patio. These kitty kitties are running around outside!! Our walks go something like this..

Spot kitty kitty. Go on point.

Why is mom still walking?!? Dig in heals. Start to whine.

Mom gives a little tug on our leash and says,"Come'on Girls. I know, I see the kitty kitty. Come'on now."

Dig in heals harder, "But mom there is a kitty kitty!!!. Must go over to the kitty, kitty"

Mom continues to walk and at this point we are grudgingly walking sideways. What is wrong with her?!?

We continue to look back until we've gone around the corner and then of course it doesn't exists anymore. On to new smell! In our neighborhood there are a lot of kitty kitties so our walk is fantastic!! At least for us.

A Totally Organic Experience

Hi, Bailey here. Mom enjoys teasing me when I chew grass because I really enjoy it. Ever since I was a puppy I've had tummy problems and grass seems to help. I totally digest it, no getting sick, so it must be ok with my system. When the cats help themselves to the grass patch, they get sick. What a waste of good grass. I wish they would just leave my stash alone.

Beautiful, But Uneventful Day

Would have been a gorgeous day to walk the river but instead we watched mom & dad do yard work all day. Chewed a few sticks, ran off with a couple plants, even threw a little competition with Haley to see who could collect the most gnats around their rump. {{Sigh}} It was a boring day. Don't they know this is why I am plump?!?

Smells, Friends & Veggies

Today was so much fun. First mom decided to let us roam in the vegetable garden where we had a sniff fest. So many critters have been picking the tomatoes and we were able to track their scents all over the yard. Unfortunately, we kept running into the fence otherwise I'm sure we would have tracked them down.

Then a friend came over for a visit. This is a bad photo of Daisy. She comes to visit now and then. She is a grouchy old gal and she always poops in our yard, so we're not real crazy about her. Our brother Max likes her, so we put up with her visits.

After Daisy left we were back to sniffing around the garden and we found a wonderful, deformed cucumber to fight over. Life doesn't get much better.
